Laser Refraction Through Glass Forms: A Study of Light

  • This project was inspired by a Laser / Fibre Optics Demo I saw at the Corning Museum of Glass.  I created these glass pieces in the Flamework (melting down glass rods) and Hot Shop (forming molten glass).  The actual work of art was presented to my classmates in a dark room, where I shined a green laser pointer through the glass.  The results were amazing, with light surrounding us on all sides of the room.  I wanted to convey movement and explore the unseen properties of the glass, such as refraction, through the use of a laser light.
