Lily Pads - Sensory Pads for Autism (Access Tech)

  • The LilyPads were designed to guide autistic children, who are usually easily distracted, through games and activities using lights, sounds, and vibrations to keep the child's attention.  Data is also collected on playtime for therapist evaluations.
  • We (myself and project partner) also designed a more condensed flyer version
that was handed out at conferences.
  • A low-tech version of our project has been implemented into the Al Sigl Agencies around Rochester, NY as part of long-term design research, and the high-tech version is being engineered by students at RIT.

The LilyPad Project was a collaboration between designers, engineers, and therapists at RIT and Al Sigl Institutions.
