A project where I took one of my 2D hand-drawn maps and updated it into a full 3D map.
Created mainly with Autodesk Maya 2017, this felt like coming full circle. I've always admired maps since a young age, and finally began to draw full maps myself when I was in high school. While it began as a hobby, it became my focus in art, and was a big inspiration in pursuing a visual and creative-based career. Ultimately, this led to me taking 3D Digital Design, but I never could bring my maps into 3D in a way that satisfied me. It turns out that the best way to do so was to make the 3D map mimic the hand-crafted visuals of my 2D drawings!
This would never have been possible without shader networks, toon shaders, and toon outlines, and I definitely have gained a new appreciation for them.
